The guy on the right has an anti-tank gun. I am trying to imagine lying in the mud with a 14.5mm rifle and aiming at an approaching tank.

I was pleased to see some lend-lease stuff here. My dad was in the Merchant Marine, though he never made the Murmansk run.
So I came out here because I read Google Maps reviews saying there were tanks here which were disabled during the Battle of Moscow, including one with its tracks where they fell. This, my friends, is a Tiger I, which wasn’t produced until August 1942. But wait, it gets better!
In the center rear is a Sherman M4. A Sherman tank defending Moscow 1941-42? But wait: to the right is an M4A1!
I very often come away from tourist attractions glad that I went, but with an experience other than that of my fellow tourists. These places all shape our understanding of the past.
